The Reverend Sue Hyosuk Yun was born and raised in South Korea. While studying in Sydney, Australia, she experienced a life-changing conversion and committed herself to following Jesus Christ. Sensing a call to ordained ministry, she embraced John 21:17, “If you love me, feed my sheep,” as her calling scripture. The love of God continues to be the foundation and motivation of her ministry.
Rev. Yun earned her Master of Divinity from the Boston University School of Theology and pursued further studies in Pastoral Care and Spirituality at Boston College, with a particular interest in Ignatian spirituality. She also trained and served in healthcare chaplaincy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
In 2013, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar appointed her to her first local church in the New England Annual Conference, where she was ordained an elder in 2018. Rev. Yun believes that faithful pastoral leadership begins with personal spiritual growth and seeks to lead by example, inspired by 1 Peter 5:3: “Become examples to the flock.”
Her favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 10:31: “Whatever you do, do it all for God’s glory.” She enjoys reading the writings of the saints, especially female saints, and is particularly inspired by St. Teresa of Avila’s The Way of Perfection.
Rev. Yun is married to the Reverend Brian H. Choi, and together they are blessed with three sons: Ethan, Ian, and Evan.
